2007 Gold Cup Tarpon Tournament Results


The 44th Gold Cup Invitational Tarpon Tournament was held June 17th through June 22nd in Islamorada in the Florida Keys. The grand champion was Tom Siska of Saddle Brook, New Jersey guided by Capt. Glenn Flutie of Plantation, Florida. Tom and Glenn accumulated 4,254 points from three weight fish and 3 releases including the largest tarpon of the tournament with an calculated weight of 136.5 pounds. Although this is Tom Siska's first Goldcup championship he has been a 17 year participant as well a being tournament Chairman for seven years. His guide Glenn Flutie, besides being the only angler to ever win the Goldcup five times in a row, is now the only person to have won the tournament as an angler and then as a guide.

Frank Delucas of Plantation, Fl was first runner up earning 2,744 points from three weight fish. He fished with Capt. Mark Krowka of Islamorada, Fl.

Second runner up was five-time grand champion Andy Mill of Boca Raton, Fl fishing with Capt. Dale Perez of Tavernier, Fl.

Julian Robertson of New Zealand scored the most releases with seven. He fished with Capt. Tad Burke of Islamorada, Fl.

A total of 77 fish were released by the twenty-four participants during the five days of fishing - 14 weight fish and 63 releases fish.
